A brand-new clinical study due to publish soon in the renowned Journal of Hospital Infection states that in spite of endoscopy water bottles being filled with sterile water, microbial growth still occurs. Possible contamination causes; malfunctioning back-flow valves, inadequate hand disinfection before filling or contamination during connection or disconnection. The study also suggests that we should consider new stricter guidelines on replacing water bottles after each endoscopy session.
The AquaPod is a single-use device. Avoiding potential contamination for all of the above.
