The ColoGrip™ provides a simple solution for improving grip during colonoscopy and is designed to help prevent strain injury for the user. Colonoscopy is physically demanding procedure for both endoscopists and patients. Due to the repetitive movements during procedures user can experience significant pain and discomfort in their hands and wrist. Endoscopists can perform numerous procedures daily whilst screening for bowel cancer, which can lead to repetitive strain injury.

In twelve studies of collected responses from 2,306 Endoscopy units, there was evidence showing the prevalence of injury among all endoscopists was 53.0%. Of the 1693 endoscopists included in the review, 901 (53.2%) reported at least one musculoskeletal complaint.
The ASGE have been so concerned about this issue that they published the above report in Volume 72, No. 2: 2010 Gastrointestinal Endoscopy 227 – 235.
“Gastroenterologists spend 43% of their time performing endoscopic procedures estimated a prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms ranging from 37% to 89% slight risk levels for the left upper limb and medium to high risk levels for the right upper extremity, a concomitant survey found that 40% of 88 surveyed endoscopists had already had a diagnosis of an upper extremity disorder, mostly in the hand-wrist area estimates that after 10 years of exposure, approximately 10% of endoscopists would be expected to have an upper extremity musculoskeletal disorder.
Currently, there are limited options to reduce hand or wrist loads during endoscopy”.
How to Use ColoGrip ™
- Place ColoGrip™ around the Colonoscope.
- Click shut
- Slide the ColoGrip™ to the optimal position of the colonoscope to aid insertion.
- Press only in the indicated area.
- Remove the ColoGrip™ by sliding off the endoscope and safely discard. Do not Re-use.
